The newly-appointed Henry Kim will be responsible for Ciena’s overall sales strategy and operations in South Korea.

Network provider Ciena Corporation has named Henry Kim as the new President and General Manager, Ciena-Asia Limited, Korea.

In this new role, Kim will be responsible for Ciena's overall sales strategy and operations in South Korea. He will play a pivotal role in reaching out to large service providers, enterprises and education institutions, using Ciena's networking and software technologies in core infrastructure, mobile backhaul and Carrier Ethernet to provide capabilities that enhance the user experience in Korea and to help network providers transform capacity into capability.

Prior to this, Kim has held several executive positions in sales and business development with other international IT and networking companies, including Digital Equipment Co. in Massachusetts and NEC Corporation in Silicon Valley.

"With one of Asia's most wired markets, South Korea continues to expand its telecom infrastructure industry and the country's migration to 4G-Advanced continues to grow apace. Businesses and consumers need high-capacity networks that are smarter, more agile and software-driven to aid their adoption of high-speed communication solutions for today's web-scale world. We are excited to have Henry lead our charge in this important market," said Anthony McLachlan, vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, Ciena.
