Amazon Web Services has taken the wrappers off a new global certification program on the back of increasing adoption of cloud services.
The company stated organisations were seeking mechanisms to identify candidates and consultants with demonstrated knowledge of AWS best practices.
The program, which will also be available to Australian partners, aims to recognise IT professionals harbouring the skills and technical knowledge necessary for building and maintaining applications and services on the AWS Cloud.
"With cloud computing being quickly adopted by organisations of all sizes around the world, in-depth training programs as well as certifications for individuals who have demonstrated competence with AWS are increasingly important," AWS vice president, Adam Selipsky, said in a statement. "The AWS Certification Program helps organisations identify that the employees, partners and consultants they depend on for their AWS solutions are well-versed in the best practices of building cloud applications on AWS."
In order to earn certification, individuals must demonstrate their proficiency in a particular area by passing an exam. Preparation for exams can be done through courses through AWS Training.
Individuals that pass the AWS Certification Exam can display the applicable certified logo on business cards and resumes to gain visibility for their expertise.
The first certification exam is for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect -- Associate Level, will test skills for technical professionals and solutions architects involved in the design and development of applications on AWS.
Additional certifications such as systems operations (SysOps) administrators and developers, will follow later this year.
AWS Certification Exams are administered through testing centers in more than 100 countries and 750 testing locations globally.
