Tim Gentry has confirmed his tenure as Avaya's A/NZ managing director has come to an end, as he prepares to return home to the United States to take on a new challenge.
Gentry told ARN his departure is the result of a proposed promotion which will see him take on a senior role in North America, although he was unable to confirm what the new role will entail.
The offer comes on the back of Gentry's A/NZ success. He is credited for implementing and executing a more transparent channel strategy, and the resulting growth. At the time of his appointment in May 2012, 65 per cent of the company's local business was done through the channel. It now accounts for all of Avaya's new business. According to Gentry, Avaya A/NZ has not yet decided on a replacement managing director, although chief operations officer, Luke Power, will steer the ship in the interim. The vendor is currently assessing several candidates (both internally and externally) in hope of selecting an appropriate individual to continue to drive the momentum generated over the past two years.
