Nearly half (42 percent) of online jobs in Indonesia from January to June 2017 are technology-related and this is expected to continue for the rest of the year, according to a report by labour market intelligence provider JobTech.
More than 60 percent of these tech jobs are located in Jakarta. Software engineers, developers (including web developers, programme developers, and application developers), programmers and digital media specialists are the most-in demand tech talents.
In addition, employers regard communication, team player, analytical thinking, creative thinking, and meticulous as the most important soft skills that talents must have.
Meanwhile, the in-demand jobs in the country also require domain knowledge in field of science and technology, software, computer science, IT and business, and server.
Besides that, JobTech indicated other fastest growing domain knowledge in the country such as Representational State Transfer (RESTful), which is an API that helps improve interoperability of computer systems or software; Relational Database Management System (RDMBS); and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), which covers process of conceptualisation, development, and deployment of an information system.
