13 best companies for female IT pros

Sharon Florentine | May 20, 2015
The Anita Borg Institute has released its annual list of best companies for women technologists. At the top of the list: BNY Mellon; with tech firms like Google, Apple, GoDaddy and also making a strong showing.

Women make up about 23 percent of the technical workforce and earn about 18 percent of computer science degrees, but despite these numbers, they are underrepresented in the technical workforce, and are leaving the industry at twice the rate as men due to the inhospitable tech environment, Ames says.

"Companies need technical talent, and women represent half of the intellectual capital. If companies want to attract the best and the brightest then it only makes sense for companies to tap into the technical skills women have to offer," says Whitney in the statement.
