The other candidates who will be highly sought after this year are those who, regardless of the role, have the most wanted skills: stakeholder management, business partnering, project management, people skills and communication. While some of these qualities require years to develop, ICT professionals looking to make a move should consider training up in these areas.
Who's offering what?
While the market is clear on what it wants, employers appear to be still catching up. Of the top benefits offered by ICT hiring managers this year, 49 per cent placed a competitive salary as the priority, with career progression following at 46 per cent. Smart companies will now work on reversing these priorities, to ensure potential talent is won over by a clear career path and opportunities for promotion first, and salary second.
