The CEO’s Critical Role In Digital Transformation

Kevin Taylor, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, BT Global Services | April 20, 2016
Kevin Taylor of BT Global Services talks about the need for CEOs to get on board with leading their organisations' digital strategy.

As we move into the second quarter of 2016, the common denominator for many is digital business transformation, how companies are grappling digital disruptions. Transformation depends on how companies envision, manage and execute the transformation.

The role played by company's leadership in their success cannot be understated. CEOs must realise the transformative impact and value of going digital, and be willing and brave enough to make the change.

In their relationship with the CIO, CEOs must be able to separate IT service from IT strategy - and understand that the CIO is responsible for both. For the relationship between the two to thrive, that unique dynamic needs to be recognised. CEOs want IT to help accelerate their businesses. CIOs want to know how they can achieve that. One way they can help do that is by changing or redefining the jobs of their CIOs, even coaching them in business strategy.

Ultimately, the CEO can play a critical role in the digital transformation of the business.

To be able to succeed, they need to take charge by understanding its strategic value and championing its use.
