Digital transformation is here and it's happening right now. It is indeed revolutionary to the extent of being disruptive, yet it is the only way ahead for the world to move. A recent study by Gartner predicts that only 30 percent of digital transformations will succeed in their journey. While these statistics are worrisome for many, it also highlights that becoming a digital enterprise is not an easy journey.

While the whole world is coping with this whirlwind journey of digitalisation, Asia has been on the forefront of this digital transformation journey. With 8.6 billion connected devices and a robust digital infrastructure, most enterprises in the region are actively implementing digital initiatives so as to transform their business and in turn their nation, into smart economies. Digitalisation in Asia is happening at different stages for each of the industries, with each of them actively pursuing strategies that corresponds to their own digital readiness and corporate objectives leading to better business results. In 2016, digital advances in terms of analytics, data forecasting and enhancement of customer relationships via digital platforms are quickly becoming the key focus areas for enterprises to remain profitable and stay ahead of the competition.

Breaking the business silos
For large enterprises in the era of high-speed connectivity, business is very dependent on how successfully multiple business processes integrate within the architecture. Business has to be run effectively by integrating business processes and applications into a platform to break the 'silo effect' and to provide a better customer experience on multiple touch points. 

Given the different stages of readiness, the Integration of multiple platforms for enterprises in Asia can be a difficult task or even daunting to many. However, C-levels have seen business integration as a critical factor in order to succeed; enabling integration through efficient technology solutions can successfully transform a decoupled technology landscape into a business-empowered information system.

Time to move on from off-the shelf technology
The increasing importance of software solutions has been a major part of the C-levels' concerns in Asia. With the worldwide IT spending forecasted to amount to a whooping US$3.54 trillion dollars in 2016, enterprises must pay attention and invest in the right technology mix. While employing the typical out of the box/off the shelf technology may seem like an easier way to embrace digitalisation, it won't help the businesses stand out in the crowd. To stay ahead in the digital game, what enterprises need are tailored technology solutions that are inline with their business needs and goals. With customised solutions business models become more flexible and agile. This can be highly beneficial in the longer run with the constantly changing business parameters.
