Cloud is a paradigm, not a place

Steven Yong, Business Group Lead, Cloud & Enterprise Group, Microsoft Malaysia | May 19, 2016
Microsoft Malaysia's Steven Yong writes on the accelerated shift in Malaysia from traditional computing to the cloud computing paradigm.

Expect more from the Cloud

These examples of successful deployment illustrate how hybrid cloud will continue to be a key enabler for digital transformation in an increasing mobile-first, cloud-first world. Organizations need to recognise that the industry no longer emphasises on tradition - it only respects innovation. And cloud is where these innovations continue to take place as new demands arise every day. From the perspective of the cloud-service provider, we expect to see more cloud-services made available, making cloud adoption a very compelling direction.

With International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasting cloud IT infrastructure spending to grow at an annual growth rate of 15.6 percent and will reach US$54.6 billion by 2019 (accounting for 46.5 percent of the total spending on IT infrastructure), the pace of the cloud will irrefutably continue to accelerate, and will continue to be a cloud innovation to be reckoned with in 2016 and beyond.
