4. Quickly turn image files with text into editable Google Docs using OCR 

Google Doc's Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology gives users the ability to change image files containing typewritten/printed text into editable text, saving you time from having to manually transcribe entire documents.

Simply scan letters, faxes or other previously printed materials onto your computer, select upload, then file on the Google Documents List (doc.google.com) and choose the files you would like to upload to Google Docs. Once uploaded, open the document and click Edit in Google Docs to begin editing.

5. Create and send a custom survey to colleagues in Google spreadsheets

Creating, tabulating and evaluating survey results can be a very lengthy and tedious process. Google Docs aims to simplify that process.

You can quickly create a form or survey in Google Docs, e-mail it to your colleagues, and keep track of their answers in one spreadsheet. The response summary shows you how many users filled out a form and what their responses are as well as displays graphs and charts of those responses.
