BLOG: CommunicAsia2011 and BroadcastAsia2011 kickoff in Singapore

On Tuesday, the doors to CommunicAsia2011 and BroadcastAsia2011 were thrown open.

Tuesday we opened the doors to CommunicAsia2011 and BroadcastAsia2011 and it has been a fantastic start to the week. As a premier launch event for the broadcasting, media and ICT industries, more than 55,000 attendees from around the world will convene to exchange ideas and ink deals from now until 24 June.

This year has been an exhilarating one for the global ICT industry. With a proliferation of new services and technologies within the sector, we are seeing dramatic shifts as Asia takes the lead in technology investment and infrastructure upgrading.

According to IDC, IT spending in Southeast Asia is predicted to remain on the uptrend reaching US$36.1 billion by year-end, and this amounts to a year-on-year growth of nine per cent. Closer to home, the Singapore Government announced yesterday its e-Government Masterplan for 2011 to 2015 which aims to improve the exchange of information and ideas and refine public service delivery. The country’s media sector also continues to grow, with more local content making its way to international screens, and the development of technologies such as HD, 3D and Smart TVs.

Just as the industry landscape continues to evolve, so too has SES’ approach towards CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia. Occupying more than 55,000 square metres of floor space at the Marina Bay Sands and Suntec Singapore respectively, the dedicated meeting and hospitality facilities at both venues allow for increased high-level networking and knowledge-sharing on and off the show floors.

Highlights at CommunicAsia2011 include the latest developments in Next Generation Broadband from key industry players and network operators. In addition, mobile applications will continue to make its mark as international mobile developers and independent software vendors showcase their latest content and solutions. Boasting a ten per cent increase with more than 110 exhibitors this year, satellite technology is another key focus of the show as their usage expands towards providing data and media delivery solutions.

At BroadcastAsia2011, the region’s leading trade event for the broadcasting and media industry, visitors at Suntec Singapore can expect the latest products and solutions from 3D and Hybrid TV to Digital Signage, Playout Services and Professional Audio Technology.

Knowledge sharing is another critical component of imbX 2011 and this will persist with over 250 industry professionals sharing ideas, know-how and best practices, the conferences at the CommunicAsia Summit and BroadcastAsia International Conference.

The CommunicAsia Summit will have dedicated sessions on Next Generation Broadband, Mobile Marketing and Cloud Computing—covering topical issues important to ICT players.

Likewise the BroadcastAsia International Conference will centre around seven broad topics shaping the future of film and television.  We are also pleased that the Creative Content Production Conference will return this year with an expanded, two-day agenda to explore opportunities in producing content for the big and small screens.

We are excited by the response we have seen for both shows today, and look forward to more interesting launches, presentations, and showcases in the days ahead.
