With enterprise networks growing exponentially as more and more devices attach to the network, IT managers are constantly challenged to ensure that the IT infrastructure is available and cost-efficient.
Realising that this is no mean feat, communications network provider CommScope has recently introduced a combination of hardware and software solution designed to ease the responsibility resting on IT managers' shoulders.
The SYSTIMAX imVision Infrastructure Management solution by CommScope puts together the imVision System Manager 7.0 software platform and the colour touch-screen imVision Controller hardware that allows IT managers to be in control of the IT network and not the other way around.
CommScope explained that today's IT network configuration that addresses the requirements of enterprises and the users are taking a toll on the IT manager's operational workflow. IT managers these days not only have to make sure that the network is up whenever it is needed; they also have to make sure that the network is cost-efficient and flexible enough to meet user demands, including the capability to accommodate as many devices and users as needed.
CommScope said its new imVision controller provides IT staff with end-to-end network visibility at their fingertips from any rack or cabinet. With the Web-based imVision System Manager software managers view the entire physical network, as well as monitor and control from one centralised location.
CommScope said these capabilities help "improve operational efficiency, ensures tighter security throughout the network, enhances change management, and tracks the real-time location of connected devices."
"Deploying an intelligent infrastructure in a network is becoming commonplace in the industry because managers want to have fast, easy control over certain aspects of the network including security, process efficiency and energy management," said George Brooks, senior vice president, enterprise product line management, CommScope. "As a trusted advisor, CommScope now offers IT managers a complete solution that provides them a live view of their global network that is accurate and easy to maintain while also preparing them for future network demands."
Brooks added that the monitoring of the physical layer of the network enables IT managers to ensure the security of the network by detecting breaches quickly. It also allows IT managers to monitor moves and changes within the network.
CommScope said the imVision solution builds intelligence into the network infrastructure.
