CP Gurnani, the CEO of Indian IT Services company Mahindra Satyam, has been appointed as the managing director of Tech Mahindra.
This was announced on 13 August by Tech Mahindra after a decision was taken in the Board meeting held in Mumbai, India on 10 August 2012.
Tech Mahindra is a leading provider of solutions and services to the telecommunications industry with a majority stake owned by Mahindra & Mahindra, one of India's top business groups.
Gurnani, who took the responsibility of transforming the scandal-hit Satyam in 2009, was heading Tech Mahindra's global operations, and sales and marketing functions, and was also leading the development of the company's competency and solution units.
In the last three years, he has been pivotal in making Mahindra Satyam bounce back and spearheading its eventual merger with Tech Mahindra.
"From establishing Tech Mahindra as the undisputed leader in telecom to charting Mahindra Satyam's three-year transformational turnaround in the most trying of circumstances, CP's journey as the turnaround CEO is now complete and I congratulate him as he takes on this additional critical responsibility. I am confident that he will continue to outshine in all that he sets out to do," said Anand Mahindra, chairman, Mahindra Group and chairman of Tech Mahindra.
"Tech Mahindra has been instrumental in shaping my career and the opportunity at Mahindra Satyam helped me build on that foundation," said Gurnani. "I look forward to the challenges and hope to deliver to the best of my abilities."
An alumnus of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, he has held several leading positions with HCL Hewlett Packard, Perot Systems (India) and HCL in his career of over 31 years. In 2007, CP was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award bestowed by Ernst & Young.
