Sweden-based company Plingm has launched its mobile VoIP app service in Singapore, the company announced recently.
According to Plingm, its application is operating systems-agnostic, running across Android and iOS devices.
With the Plingm voice app, users can make HD quality voice calls anywhere in the world, including to their Facebook friends and LinkedIn connections.
PlingM enables users to call over 100 destinations at low cost rates compared to leading providers, saving users 85 percent on an average, said the company in a statement.
The debut marks the company's entry in the Asian mobile VoIP scene. Earlier this year, the voice app service was launched in India.
"Among its other Asian counterparts, Singapore has the highest smartphone penetration rate, and is also the world's first country to have more smartphones than feature phones. Singapore is the ideal gateway for Plingm to expand in this region," said Pandelis Eliopoulos, co-founder of Plingm.
Plingm first launched its service in 2011. The company was founded by entrepreneurs from the telecom and internet industry in Sweden. Formerly known as Freephoo, the app has been launched successfully in many markets around the world.
To demonstrate ease of use and HD quality of Plingm voice calls, Plingm will be offering free calls in popular commercial and business areas around Singapore, according to company sources.
