PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC), a Thai petrochemical manufacturer, is tapping into the business network of Ariba, an SAP company, to discover, connect and collaborate more efficiently and effectively than ever before with its supply chain partners.
"Procurement used to be a largely manual process that required a lot of time and effort," said Wilawan Songjaroen, Vice President - Procurement, PTTGC. "With Ariba, we have been able to streamline and take it to the next level."
According to SAP sources, three years ago, PTTGC implemented a range of Ariba's solutions to fuel a standard, online sourcing process through which it could more efficiently negotiate best-value agreements. And to drive compliance with them, it launched a catalog-based procurement process. Today, the company's procure-to-order cycle is completely automated and transparent. And it is completed with greater speed.
The improved process has also enabled PTTGC to enhance its relationship with suppliers by reducing the cost of doing business with the company, providing greater visibility into the status of invoices and payments, and providing access to technology to improve efficiency and productivity.
"We are now sending purchase orders to key suppliers through the network to make it easier for them to transact, acknowledge and send ship notices to us," Songjaroen said.
SAP sources said that the company ultimately intends to do this with all of its suppliers to achieve a world-class, end-to-end procurement processes that supports its business.
"Networks are the most efficient, effective way to connect with a global network of partners and transact business," said Liher Urbizu, Managing Director, SAP Indochina. "In embracing them, innovative companies like PTTGC are enabling new processes that are only possible in a networked environment are driving transformation across their operations."
Used by more than 1.5 million connected companies, the Ariba Network is the world's largest and most global business-to-business trading platform.
