Canon launches cloud solution for document management
SINGAPORE, 27 MAY 2011 – Canon Singapore, a subsidiary of multinational Japanese firm Canon, today announced the launch of Canon Cloud Advantage, which is a document management solution that provides the ability to push-pull, convert and repost documents from and into the cloud before printing.
Designed with the local small and medium enterprises (SME) market in mind, Canon, in alliance with Singapore’s largest telco SingTel, will deliver the solution touted to drive cost savings and productivity.

Speaking at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, Lim Kok Hin, Canon Singapore’s vice president, business imaging solutions group said: “Accounting for half of the country’s economic output and employing approximately 60 per cent of the workforce, SMEs are the future of Singapore. Deploying technology is key to driving innovation, costs savings and productivity, and until now, fully integrated document management technologies have been closed to these companies.
“With the launch of Canon Cloud Advantage, small to medium enterprises can enjoy the same document management efficiencies as large enterprises without huge technology spending,” he added.
One of the features available on the Canon Cloud is a scan-to-cloud function, where users can scan paper documents, select or convert the format of the documents, and send directly to a hosted document management system or any software-as-a-service (SaaS) application such as GoogleDocs.
Another feature is a SaaS document management with capture, index, search, workflow and archive functionalities, where users can access documents at any time and from anywhere with an Internet connection.
