Big Data Needs a Big Plan

In a recent (April 30) interview with MIS Asia, Regional Director of Enterprise Technology at Oracle Asia Pacific, Kaleem Chaudhry shared with us his company's big plans and solutions sets for helping organisations worldwide solve their Big Data problems.

In which countries/geographies do you see Big Data efforts yielding top dollar ROI in the next 12 months?
Industries that generate massive amount and diverse types of data will yield the highest ROI if they embark on Big Data projects. Customers must realise that they are sitting on untapped gold mines of data that are yet to be fully utilised. Right now companies are making decisions, at best, based on data stored in their databases. While Oracle Exadata is great in this respect, having analytical capabilities like data mining and R Enterprise in the database, there are still lots of unstructured and massive data yet to be utilised. As such, Oracle's Big Data Appliance is designed to handle massive data processing, especially for data that is not captured in the data warehouse. Oracle Big Data Appliance, together with Oracle Exadata and the in-memory BI machine Exalytics, form the complete Big Data Platform for any customers who are seriously considering benefiting from Big Data initiatives.
