Professor Chun Ming Leung | Vice President (Technology and Development), The Open University of Hong Kong
Professor C. M. Leung is the Vice President (Technology & Development) at the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK). Prior to joining the OUHK in 1998, he was a physics professor at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the USA for 20 years. He received his Ph. D. in Astronomy from the University of California at Berkeley. His professional interest is in computational astrophysics and technology-enhanced education. In 1995-97, he pioneered in Hong Kong studio teaching and synchronous distance learning using Internet and ISDN technology, and promoted Web-based instruction. At the OUHK he is responsible for the planning and development of physical facilities and technology infrastructure in teaching, administration and student support services (e.g., he directed the development of the Campus Phase II and Centre for Innovation projects). He oversees the operation of three units: Information Technology, Educational Technology and Publishing, and Library. The OUHK (http://www.ouhk.edu.hk) is a government-established but self-financing university offering three learning modes: distance learning with an open admission policy for working adults, full-time, face-to-face teaching for secondary school leavers, and e-learning for professionals.
Ispran Kandasamy | Vice President Sales, Enterprise Asia Pacific, CommScope Enterprise Solutions Division
In his role, Dr Ispran Kandasamy has been responsible for driving sales within the enterprise arena within the Asia Pacific region since 2001.
Over the past 20 years, Dr Kandasamy has built up a proven track record in research and development, manufacturing, and sales and marketing within the telecommunications and general communication's industry. In previous roles, he worked for Avaya's Connectivity Solution's business as Managing Director for Asia Pacific and for Lucent Technologies as Director (Channel Distribution), based in London, for the BusinessPartner organisation within the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. In the latter role Dr Kandasamy had pan-European responsibility for supporting key global accounts, building pan-European communication infrastructures as well as driving business development within the UK.
Prior to joining Lucent's BusinessPartner organisation in 1998, Dr Kandasamy worked for Pirelli Cables & Systems in a variety of roles, including engineering, manufacturing and sales, over a six-year period focusing on the design and manufacture of optical systems.
Christopher Kimm | Vice President, Network Field Operations Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia Pacific, Verizon
Chris Kimm is responsible for operations in central office, technical facility and around CPE across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the Asia Pacific (APAC) regions. Chris' team also manages local access provisioning, local access planning and in-country carrier relationships with hundreds of PTTs and Other Licensed Operators across Europe.
Chris moved from corporate IT to communications services in 1997 when he joined UUNET, the first commercial Internet Services Provider. In most of the intervening years Chris has operated at the intersection of Engineering, Marketing and Sales, leveraging his IP heritage. As a Sales Engineering leader for most of those years Chris had frequent contact with many of the compan's current and prospective customers, and has been engaged with customer executives in dozens of the largest multinational enterprises.
Chris' team includes approximately 800 people, with the largest concentrations of staff in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Australia and Singapore.
Paul Serrano | Senior Director Marketing, APAC & Japan, Riverbed Technology
Mr. Serrano has more than 30 years of experience in the networking and security arena and has extensive experience in sales, marketing and business development. Prior to Riverbed he served as VP of Marketing APAC for CipherTrust (acquired by Secure Computing Corp). Mr. Serrano performed as Director for security products marketing for Juniper Networks via the acquisition of NetScreen Technologies where he held a variety of senior management positions, including Sr.director of product management (USA) and Sr director ofmarketing APAC. Prior to NetScreen, he was director of business development at Bell Labs Research.
He also co‐founded and served as CEO for Network Tools. He served in senior positions in sales, marketing and product management at start‐up SynOptics Communications/Bay Networks (acquired by Nortel). He was vice president at the HSBC banking corporation as well as serving in senior management roles at JP Morgan Bank and Citibank. Serrano spent nine years with the US Air Force and was responsible for the planning, design, installation and deployment of large‐scale communication systems, including satellite systems, fiber optics, voice and data systems, cryptographic systems and wireless communications. He is a member and participant in the IEEE and IETF forums.

Sidney Hui has been with the IT industry for more than 20 years with over 15 years experience in apparel sourcing/supply chain management. Currently, he is VP, Group IT & Business Planning Development of Contempo Limited, a Hong Kong-based global sourcing and supply chain management solutions provider. On the IT side, he is responsible for the global IT function. He has led the successful development of the BI/data warehouse and the web-enabled online collaboration platform for internal staffs, vendors and clients. On the Business Planning Development side, Sidney is responsible for business process re-engineering, contract management, business analysis and strategy planning, business operation support, policy and procedure development and review.
Mr Charles Mok Vice Chairman, The Professional Commons Chairman, Internet Society Hong Kong Honorary President, Hong Kong Information Technology Federation Executive Director, Computancy Limited
Charles Mok is the Vice Chairman of The Professional Commons, the first cross-sector professional think tank focusing on issues of public interest in Hong Kong. He is also the Chairman of Internet Society, Hong Kong (ISOC-HK), Honorary President of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation (HKITF) and chairman of the Health Information Technology Special Interest Division of the Hong Kong Computer Society. He was also a past chairman and a co-founder of the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association (HKISPA).
Charles is the executive director of Computancy Limited, a new media and Internet consulting company. Previously, he was the Deputy Managing Director and a co-founder of HKNet Company Limited, one of Hong Kong's earliest Internet service providers.
Charles is a member of many key Hong Kong government statutory bodies or advisory committees, including Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee, Hospital Authority, Consultation Panel of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, CreateSmart Initiative Vetting Committee, and Road Safety Campaign Committee.
In 1999, he was awarded as one of Hong Kong's "Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons". He has also been writing extensively on technology, management and public policy, appearing regularly in the Hong Kong Economic Journal, Hi Tech Weekly and ezone. In 2008 he published his first book in Chinese, entitled "Hong Kong 2.0."
Michael R. K. Mudd | Regional Representative, Asia - Pacific, The Open Computing Alliance
Mike Mudd is the Chief Representative of the OCA in the region. He brings many years of regional experience to the OCA, encompassing Japan to Australia and China to India. This region, home to half the world's population is also amongst the most dynamic and challenging for the ICT industry. He is based in Hong Kong and administers the OCA through his own company, Asia Policy Partners LLC.
Before representing the OCA, he was Director of Public Policy for Asia Pacific for one of the world's leading IT associations, CompTIA and opened the A-P office in Hong Kong, in 2004. Prior to this Mike was a Senior Manager with Standard Chartered Bank PLC, a major UK emerging market bank in the wholesale banks e-commerce group. Previously he was the Commercial Director for the e commerce division of the Noble Group, Asia's fastest growing trader of physical commodities.
With 32 years experience in multicultural management in the Asia Pacific region, including extended assignments in China and Vietnam, Mike brings to the OCA hands on experience of working with high-level decision makers in both government and industry. Holding positions in general management in the information/service and communication industries, he has a proven track record in developing pro business positions by working with governments from Minister, Vice Minister and Director head level and CEO's MD's, CFO's, CTO's, CIO's, in industry.
